The eyes eat first.

Hi, I’m Sarah Seidman (née Trainor). I’m a photographer based in Los Angeles. I don’t specialize in one specific thing—but I do eat with my eyes. I gravitate towards shadows, reflections, signs, symbols, geometry, and unexpected pops of color.

I grew up in the eclectic desert town of Tucson, Arizona and enrolled in my first photography class in junior high. By the age of 14, I was shooting local weddings as an apprentice. I continued photographing weddings for 15+ years. It taught me how to move fast, blend in, anticipate moments, and read the emotions of my subjects.

Since moving to Los Angeles in 2013, I’ve fallen in love with the city. It’s always moving, changing, growing, evolving, devolving. I love it for its neon lights and how cinematic it looks in the rain. I love it for its people and the culture those people build.

I’ve won a few awards and been published by Nikon (Instagram / Twitter), Curbed, Los Angeles Magazine, Spaceland, Trina Turk / Mr. Turk , Los Angeles Union Station, among others. I shoot mostly digital, but have an incurable film habit.

Find me at the Formosa Cafe or your local cocktail joint. I prefer my martini stirred, with Hendrick’s gin and a twist.
